Top Tips For House Moving Boxes

Monday, June 13th, 2016

When you’re moving house the first thing you’ll need is boxes, and a load of them! Boxes are the things that can make or break a house move for you because if you run out of boxes you’ll be using bags instead and these can tear or rip easily so sturdy cardboard boxes really are recommended to make your house move as stress free as possible.

Here at Unbeatable Removals we can provide you with all the cardboard boxes and other high quality moving materials you need, just let us know what you have to move and we will let you know what packing materials you need.

But in the meantime, here are some top tips for those house moving boxes;

  • If you are using large cardboard boxes try not to overfill them with heavy items as they will be too heavy to lift and could break during transportation or while being carried from your old home or into your new home. Things like books, ornaments and crockery are heavy so pack them in smaller boxes.
  • When you are transferring bottles of alcohol from your old home to your new (much needed to relax with, in your new home), pop to your local supermarket and pick up a couple of wine boxes and use these as your carriers for bottles from your old home to your new home.
  • Lightweight boxes can be tricky to carry, dependant on their size. If yours do not have handles in them then you can make improvised handlebars into your removals box by making two vertical slices and one connecting the bottom edges of the box then fold the flap upwards and you have a cardboard box with handles that it is easy to carry.
  • It is essential that you label your boxes so you know what’s in them and where they need to go. Unpacking is a slow process so the more labelled boxes the better as you can easily find the items you are looking for. By labelling which room a box needs to go into it will also help the removals team and you know where to put the boxes in your new home.
